It's hard to remember where I had my first dark and stormy, it could have been my favorite Nashville haunt, Rumba's. Or maybe the Patterson House, also in Nashville. Either way, it was a great cocktail and the recipe was quite different than its history indicates. I prefer my Dark and Stormy using ginger syrup and club soda rather than ginger beer. I also prefer using light rum with a blackstrap rum float on the top.
